I told Frank this would happen!
But as brilliant as he is at mass control — he’s always kind of avoided pay-per-click. (And he’ll admit as much.)
Here’s what happened: I designed the Mass Control Giveaway landing page to his specifications. He promised me $25,000 for the job. He wanted it done a certain way, and he wouldn’t listen to any good advice.
He wanted it to look “cool”. All “San Diego surfer dude” and stuff.
I said that’s fine. You can have both… a landing page that’s cool and Adwords-optimized at the same time:
Just one run of Google Goggles over the page would have told him what’s wrong with the current site (which you can still see at www.masscontrolgiveaway.com)
But he just didn’t see the importance. Granted, most of his affiliates promoted by e-mail. And he sold out within minutes, so who am I to give him advice?
It irked me a bit though… the fact that I had co-developed Google Goggles didn’t seem to impress him. “What’s Google Goggles?”
The fact that I worked with Larry & Amish for years, experimenting with millions of Adwords dollars, went right over his head.
I don’t think he meant to dismiss my advice or act ignorant. Pay-per-click just hasn’t been a focus in his current business. Most of his affiliates have e-mail lists!
I think he just doesn’t know the power of making your landing page “Adwords approved.” He basically bribed me with $25,000 to build just build his site and shut up.
But my soul is not for sale, Frank!
I’ll keep nagging you, till you “get” pay-per-click. Maybe you can learn a trick from me for once.
So Frank, this video is for you:
Frank Kern, press Play above to find out why the site (that I designed!) sucks so bad… and what Google Goggles suggests you do about it!
There you have it Frank… use Google Goggles next time!
Hint for Frank: It’s on sale this Friday, 8/22/08 at 3 pm Eastern / 12 noon Pacific, right here at http://www.putonyourgoggles.com
(Fine buddy, I might hook you up with a copy… if you promise to listen next time!)

I need that!

21|Aug|2008 7Hi Guys,
You guys are absolutely amazing. I have been following you guys since TheNewPPC.com and you consistently blow my mind with your tools. I am a HexaTrack Pro user and will definitely buy Google Goggles from you. EVEN THOUGH I already use it!
Keep up the GREAT work.

21|Aug|2008 8Hope the tool is better than your dancing! Seriously though, I’ve been having issues with quality score for some time and it appears this tool can help. I can’t wait to get my hands on it and put it to work. You better not close the doors like you did with Hexatrack.

21|Aug|2008 102 things: Is this tool also suitable for other then English markets, i.e. Dutch or German?
Second: Is there something wrong with the video´s? Both stop in the middle and return to the beginning point, I tried several times, but they keep stopping at the same point over and over again.

21|Aug|2008 16Good video, but why didn’t you use Google Goggles on your site when you were setting it up?

Waiting for tommorrow.

21|Aug|2008 20Hey Guys,
Hilarious.
You guys dance just like me. lol
Loved the freeze pose too.
I was wondering why the optin form would be a contributor
to a quality score.
Perhaps you can explain in the next video.

21|Aug|2008 21It seems to me that if you spent “5 million dollars” doing “800 tests”, you should have spent a minimum amount of bucks making certain that your own video could be successfully downloaded by interested folks like me….. Frank’s site may “suck”, but at least I can view his pitch…. unfortunately, your pitch is completely lost on me, I’ve been waiting for at least 15 minutes for your to buffer….. Hope you fix yours…. if you are gonna try to fix it, pleeze keep me posted.
Thanks….. Paul Hanson
PS I don’t think you win many friends by “dumping” on Frank and his lack of being able to see things “your way”. There’s gotta be a better way to entice people to open and view your video than to slam Frank, who’s got a ton of friends in the Internet marketing arena….

21|Aug|2008 22That was an interesting video.
Looks like you guys have some dance skills… Nice.

21|Aug|2008 23When watching 20 minute videos and you have a slow connection it will take a while for you.
The video works fine for me and according to the comments it has worked for a majority of the other people too.
Before complaining and saying that these videos suck, why don’t you take a look at your own internet and computer problems.
These guys are pretty damn smart and it’s the SAME format as Frank’s stuff. In fact Matt built Frank’s website.
So, I highly doubt it’s THEIR problem - most likely yours.
Cory
21|Aug|2008 24I can’t wait for this to be released it looks like a cool and very useful tool, will there be any type of trial version to try out how it works? How much will it cost?

21|Aug|2008 25If you were going to offer it as a consulting tool, you better have an option to re-brand it with my logo and without all those goofy google looking pages and whatnot. No way I’m handing that to a client!

21|Aug|2008 26Wow, that was amazing guys… great job… video was also entertaining. This seems like an incredibly powerful tool, I’m excited.

21|Aug|2008 27Guys
I really like the dancing in the intro! Forget the google product, just re-form the IM version Village People
Way cooler than your on-screen help video tips which i think wil get incredibly annoying by the second site analysis. Really hoping we cna just jump silently to the PDF report.
Does the PDF list ACTUAL your site “specific” examples, or it just general advice?
But please don’t dance in the car again Matt! Hand’s free dude!
If I take one without the on-screen help videos and the rolling eyes, can I have it for half price?!
Peter

21|Aug|2008 28Very cool…

21|Aug|2008 30I loved the Mass Control Videos and the new site.

22|Aug|2008 31Dude, you guys rock, if I was a producer I would love to shoot a show about the people behind IM, ya know like real tv, only real Internet, that would be a lotta fun. SO…. the video is cool and whats cooler is the amount of REAL internet info we get from it. Also seeingthis video just re-inforced an incredible idea, this would blow you away and I bet all of you would love to take part, co create, rock the house with this thing. I live outside of Boulder CO, lots f killer software and Internet Apps, socialthing just sold to AOL for bookoo, anyway this idea, I would love to have you check it out…
All the best

22|Aug|2008 32Yep Cool little tool guys.. looking forward to trying it out…
Question> will there be an update available as google updates ?!
.. @ george
… you can put any “flash” web page (affiliate squeeze or lander) within an i-frame and keyword load some *invisible* content within the new page .. google it.. lol
Hey… Where you guys learn that dance..
Regards :o)

22|Aug|2008 33Hey Guys,
This tool is looking pretty useful. Alot of time is wasted in PPC on mechanics, and you seem to offer a template to do first things first, which I think really helps PPCers cut to the chase. Will definitely check it out.
Barron
22|Aug|2008 34Your video may be cool, but I have to agree with Paul…
when you backstab your very own IMer who paid you for your service, that says a lot about you professionally and personally and what you will do to your customers. Nobody will dare to trust you.
Frank has been around longer than you have and has established himself as a successful marketer. One thing I know, he has helped more people make more money than you have even though PPC is not his expertise.
I don’t even give a crap if you have the best tool or product in the world when you acted the way you just did.
You are by far the first I know to personally attack a fellow IMer just for your own gain and promotion.
I guarantee you will make lots of enemies, and we, the whole IM community, will all be out to get you for treating people with such disrespect, and we will see if you are making any money then.
Raj
22|Aug|2008 35Barron/Paul,
Obviously you guys didn’t watch the video. These guys are FRIENDS with Frank and have known him for years.
Frank twittered and emailed about these guys on this VERY offer. haha, they are going to make a lot enemies. Dude, these guys rock.
Talk about not being able to take a joke.
Can’t you tell they are friends?
Dave
22|Aug|2008 36Yeah - Matt is the one who built Frank’s website!
They aren’t bashing anyone. I know for a fact they go surfing with Frank almost everyday.

22|Aug|2008 37Wow Guys
This is incredible. I look forward to trying it out real soon.
One thing does come across, that is that content is still very important to make this thing sing and dance.
Keep up the good work

23|Aug|2008 38QUESTION:
I just bought the goggles and ran my pages through before posting my ad. Everything was “Great” for 1% CTR, but when I create the campaign in Adwords I’m slapped for $1.00 clicks!
There’s only 3 other ad’s for my keyword…
What gives? the domain?
Thanks guys, great shiz
Chris

23|Aug|2008 39I now know for sure when I start my PPC campaign I’ll have a tool that will analyze it first, before putting it on the battle field for lowest bid. Thanks for all your trial and errors in developing this fine Google Goggle!
Thanks for moving the FREE line also….you take mentoring well I see, from Frank I suppose….he,he!
You guys rock!
Looking forward to a much better year now……Surf on dudes!
